The greatest horse racing event in England is the Grand National Horse race which is staged at Aintree race course just outside Liverpool in the UK. It’s held on a Saturday in April and is one of the most difficult horse races in the world. There have been a number of equine and jockey deaths during the race. Animal lovers condemn this race and there have been several outcries against this event. The Grand National is run over 4 miles and 4 furlongs and has some of the most difficult obstacles. The race is a test of both the horse and the jockey. There was an incident once when 40 horses started in the race and only 2 reached the finish post. Imagine if you come running to a hedge and jump across it? What do you expect on the other side? Well obviously the land to be at the same height. Well that’s the scary part about the Grand National the other side of an obstacle can be higher or lower or even softer! Or with a sudden bend. Well this is why it’s one of the most watched events in the UK. People may not be crazy about horse racing, but they do love to watch the Grand National. The Grand National is not about flat out galloping a horse as fast as it can go. It’s about the skill set shown by the horse and the jockey. If you have not seen the Grand National then you better watch it. Of course the bookies are waiting for you to place your bet.
